Register NOW for Fall 2019 Recreational Soccer!

Fall 2019 Recreational Soccer!

  • Register NOW!
  • All new players must provide a copy of a birth certificate or passport.
  • Register early so the club can plan properly for the season. Waitlists will begin when age groups near capacity.
  • A late fee of $25 per player will take effect on July 1. The final date to register without the late fee is June 30.

Registration Fee: $85/player, with a Family Max of $225
(note: the family max does NOT include any applicable late fees)

The Avon Soccer Club offers the following programs to Avon residents:

  • Soccer Stars (U5): Develop soccer skills through fun drills and friendly scrimmages led by professional coaches. This group meets on Saturdays, and teams are co-ed. For children born in 2015.
  • Kindergarten Clinic (U6): Develop soccer techniques and skills and play small-sided games. Led by professional coaches, this group meets on Saturdays, and teams are co-ed. For children born in 2014.
  • Intramural (U8–U14): Develop skills, learn teamwork, and enjoy a fun level of competitive play. Practice is one night per week; games are played on Saturdays, with an occasional Sunday game. For children born in 2006 (or grade 8) through 2013.

Coaching: The Avon Soccer Club needs YOU to volunteer to coach.

  • Experience is not necessary, but your time and enthusiasm are. In return, you will receive a priceless bond with your child and his or her teammates. More coaches will help keep team rosters smaller, allowing for maximum time on the field for your young players. The Avon Soccer Club is run entirely by volunteers, so without volunteer coaches like you, there is no program.
  • Register for coaching now!

Travel: **If your child has tried out for the 2019–2020 travel season, then DO NOT register for the recreational program. Players not selected for travel will have the opportunity to register for recreational soccer at a later date.**

2019-2020 Travel Tryouts

Travel Tryouts for the 2019-2020 Season!

The Avon Soccer Club Travel Program will host travel tryouts for the 2019-2020 season on May 28th and May 30th (see breakout below) at Fisher Meadows Athletic Complex. Rain dates will be June 4th and June 6th. To avoid delays on that day, we encouraged everyone to pre-register online by 5/21/19. This is a great opportunity for current recreational program participants to elevate their game to the next level!

The Avon Soccer Club (ASC) girls and boys travel teams participate in League Play organized by the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA). More than one team per age group may be offered for the 2019-2020 travel team season, depending on the number and quality of players trying out. If you are not selected to participate in the travel program, you can still register later for the recreational program...trying out does not mean you have to participate in travel.

****Results will be distributed via email by the conclusion of the current season****

Avon Soccer Club travel fee is $540 (covers both fall and spring) and includes the following:

  1. home and away jersey, shorts and socks
  2. 4 day August pre-season training camp at Fisher Meadows, run by professional Oakwood trainers
  3. referee fees for home games
  4. one tournament per season (fall and spring) in addition to the Avon Memorial Day Tournament (3 in total)
  5. participation in the CT Cup statewide tournament (U11 and above)
  6. weekly professional goalkeeper training
  7. weekly professional “skills” training
  8. practices two times per week & generally two weekend games

Head Coaches for teams are selected/approved by the ASC Board of Directors after tryout results have been determined. Interested coaches should submit their resume to Shawn Peter at .

Tryouts are open to Avon all residents and are based on the following CJSA birth year age groupings:

*Players MUST try out within their age group*

2011 - U09 - May 30th - 5:00 2008 - U12 - May 28th - 6:15
2010 - U10 - May 30th - 5:30 2007 - U13 - May 28th - 6:15
2009 - U11 - May 28th - 4:30 2006 - U14/U15 - May 28th - 4:30

Tryout times have been posted to the ASC website. We have done our best to avoid any conflicts with school functions. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your assigned time to check in. Bring water bottle and soccer ball. In the event of rain, call the town cancellation line at 409-4365.

How to Find Out if Fields are Closed...

How to Find Out if Fields are Closed...

The Town of Avon Cancellation Line is 860-409-4365. The message on this phone line is updated during the weekdays and on the weekends. During the week, the town also sends out cancellation notices by email. (Subscribe to the Recreation and Parks Department news email at www.avonct.gov/subscribe.)

If the fields are closed during the week, then the town updates the Cancellation Line and sends out an email. If you want this information as soon as humanly possible, then you must subscribe to the recreation department news email. The club updates the club website and sends out an email with this information, but the first source of the information is the town email.

To check the status of the fields on the weekend, you must call the Cancellation Line. The line should be updated around 7:30 am. If the phone line has not been updated yet, then don't call or text your coaches! They don't have any insider information; they are waiting for the phone line update just like you are. The town and the club do NOT send out emails about the status of the fields on the weekend, because the status can change throughout the day. So you must call the Cancellation Line before your game.

Sometimes the weather is lousy and people are surprised that the fields are open. Remember: if the fields are open, then that means the fields are playable; it doesn’t mean that everyone is going to enjoy playing on them!

Reminder: Carry In, Carry Out at the Fields

Please be reminded that all parks in Avon are TRASH FREE PARKS. Trash cans are not provided, so please carry out what you carry in.

We all need to work together to keep our parks free from litter so that everyone can enjoy them.

Everyone should be diligent in taking their trash with them when they leave so that the next group can enjoy the fields.

We appreciate your cooperation and hope everyone gets out and enjoys Avon's beautiful parks and fields!
