AVON SOCCER CLUB TRAVEL PROGRAM
**Please note that items listed below may be subject to change due to current circumstances**
The Avon Soccer Club (ASC) fields travel teams to participate in League Play organized by the North Central District which is under the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA). It is a Full Year Program. A full commitment is required from both players and parents. The number of teams fielded in each age group is primarily based on the number of qualified players who tryout. The Travel Coordinator, coaches and outside soccer professionals evaluate players for teams during annual tryouts held in May or June of each year. Players must try out for the team and be invited to participate. However, if you don't get invited to join the Travel Soccer Team you can play in the Recreational Program.
Practices - There are typically two scheduled practices per week as determined by coaches. Attendance is expected at all practices. Players should advise their coaches if they are unable to attend or participate in a practice.
Training - ASC provides pre-season training the week prior to the start of school. The camp takes place at Fisher Meadows Athletic Complex and is led by Coaches and Training Staff from Oakwood Soccer Club.
District League Games - Teams will play a complete league schedule (usually 6-7 games as set by our CJSA District League commissioners) in the fall and spring seasons. These games are normally played on Sundays, with make-up games scheduled on other days subject to field availability. Attendance is required at all games (with the exception of illness or family commitments).
Friendly Games - Teams can play, at coaches discretion, additional non-league games. They will typically take place on Saturdays.
Tournaments - Avon Soccer Club will pay for entry into one tournament for each travel team. Teams will also participate in the Avon Soccer Club sponsored Memorial Day Tournament in May.
Connecticut Cup Play - For teams U11 and above, CJSA administers the CT Cup, a statewide single elimination tournament, each fall and spring. These games are normally played on Saturdays.
Coaches - The Head Coaches of travel teams are selected and approved by the Board after tryouts. If you are interested in coaching a travel team please submit your resume and letter of interest to Shawn Peter at [email protected].
